The Infinite Book

Thank goodness the local library re-opened after earthquake retrofitting! Now I can stop endlessly buying books.

Today, I checked out The Infinite Book, by John D. Barrow. In it there's a great quote from Tom Stoppard. He says, "Eternity's a terrible thought. I mean, where's it all going to end?"

Can there be such a thing as infinity, or is the word just the mathematical equivalent for "too much to count?" I'll let you know what Barrow thinks after I finish the book!

Now there's a challenge for a writer. Try to explain "infinity" in lay language.
